Eevee’s evolutions, known as “Eeveelutions,” are a fan favorite in Pokémon GO. Here’s a guide on how to obtain each one, including tips on getting the coveted Shiny versions and how to get Sylveon, the Fairy-type Eeveelution.
Standard Evolution Methods
- Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon: Use 25 Eevee candies to evolve Eevee into one of these forms. The outcome is random.
- Espeon and Umbreon: Walk with Eevee as your buddy for 10 km, then evolve it during the day for Espeon or at night for Umbreon. Make sure Eevee is still your buddy when evolving.
- Leafeon and Glaceon: Use a Mossy Lure Module to get Leafeon or a Glacial Lure Module to get Glaceon. These lures can be purchased in the in-game shop or obtained through events.
- Sylveon: To get Sylveon, you need to earn 70 hearts with Eevee as your buddy. This can be achieved by feeding it, playing with it, and walking together. After reaching 70 hearts, the “Evolve” button will display Sylveon’s silhouette.
Naming Trick
There is a one-time-use naming trick for each Eeveelution:
- Vaporeon: Name Eevee “Rainer”
- Jolteon: Name Eevee “Sparky”
- Flareon: Name Eevee “Pyro”
- Espeon: Name Eevee “Sakura”
- Umbreon: Name Eevee “Tamao”
- Leafeon: Name Eevee “Linnea”
- Glaceon: Name Eevee “Rea”
- Sylveon: Name Eevee “Kira”
Rename your Eevee accordingly and evolve it to get the desired form. This trick only works once per evolution type.
Shiny Eevee and Eeveelutions
Shiny Eevee and its Eeveelutions are sought after by collectors. Shiny Eevee can often be obtained during special events, such as Community Days or in-game events, where the Shiny rate is increased. Evolving a Shiny Eevee will result in a Shiny version of the chosen Eeveelution.

Tips for Collectors
- Plan your evolutions: Decide which Eeveelutions you want before using your naming tricks or evolution methods.
- Save your candies and items: Make sure you have enough Eevee candies and any necessary items, like Lure Modules, before starting your evolution process.
- Participate in events: Keep an eye out for events that boost Eevee spawns or Shiny rates to increase your chances of getting Shiny Eevee and its evolutions.
